Packaging firm developed paper straws with vegetable lubricant

Transcend Packaging collaborated with lubricants manufacturer Klüber in August 2023 to create a new paper straw free of hydrocarbons. The straws were developed using Klüberfood 4DC (direct contact), a vegetable-based technical processing aid that has allowed Transcend Packaging to eliminate all traces of MOSH (mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons) and MOAH (mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons) from the production process. Klüberfood 4DC is made from 100% food-grade ingredients sourced sustainably and of vegetable origin, unlike wax-based lubricants commonly used in industry, which often contain high-molecular synthetic polymer chains, additives, and oils.
